UCF History M.A. thesis candidate Mike Partain is featured in “What Men Can Teach Us About Breast Cancer” written by host and science journalist Florence Williams. Mike Partain was born on a storied Marine Corps base in North Carolina. Thirty-nine years later, he was diagnosed with breast cancer. He is a cancer survivor and advocate for those, like him, who were poisoned by toxic waste at the Camp LeJeune Marine Corps Base in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.
He is currently writing his thesis on efforts to expose the government’s dark archives on this case.
