The National Science Foundation ICubed project at UCF sponsors the collaboration of students doing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics research and students from the School of Visual Arts and Design for the creation of artifacts that are inspired by STEM research. Last year, STEM students who were involved in research collaborated with SVAD students for the creation of STEM inspired artifacts, such as paintings, sculptures, and posters. This year similar collaborations are under way.
The National Science Foundation and the journal Science created the International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge to celebrate the communication of science, engineering and technology for education and journalistic purposes. Four teams of ICubed students from last year participated in this year’s NSF Visualization Challenge.
Of those four, the team of Steven Feldman (EECS student with Damian Dechev as faculty advisor) and Emile Kanhai (SVAD student with Joo Kim as faculty advisor) made the final list in the poster category of this competition; the title of their poster is: Lock-free Concurrent Hash Tables.
To see the full size version of their poster please visit its official contest page.
The winning entries will appear in a special section in Science and Science Online and on the NSF website, and one of the winning entries will be pictured on the front cover. In addition, each winner will receive a one-year print and on-line subscription to the journal Science and a certificate of appreciation.
