Department Archives: Writing and Rhetoric

Thursday night was filled with terrifying tales and fearsome costumes as the University Writing Center held its annual Halloween Open Mic Night.

The Department of Writing and Rhetoric’s community-based research project challenges colonial stereotypes in mid-20th century Florida newspapers to provide historical accuracy and context for anyone engaging with the museum’s database.

Rhetoric is everywhere — on TV, on our phones, in conversations. Learning how to use rhetoric can help you better understand messages while effectively communicating in any situation.

The annual Knights Write Showcase celebration will take place Feb. 8 and 9 at the Pegasus Grand Ballroom, where attendees can view poster presentations displaying writing research projects, attend various panel presentations that discuss writing-related issues and ideas and celebrate award-winning student work.

The winners of the 2021 awards accomplished great things with the $25,000 awards. This year, applicants are invited to submit proposals through Dec. 16 for projects that strengthen our sense of community through arts and wellness.
