This year’s Faculty Authors’ celebration recognized faculty from across eight colleges, the library and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, with 19 of the 53 awards belonging to Arts and Humanities faculty.

The Rollins Museum of Art and the UCF Art Gallery at the University of Central Florida are pleased to announce the finalists for the second iteration of their collaborative exhibition and competition for emerging Florida artists, Pathways 2024: The Carlos Malamud Prize.

Two projects focused on collaboration within diverse communities have been named winners of the 2023 Pabst Steinmetz Foundation Arts and Wellness Innovation Awards. The project teams comprising UCF researchers and community partners were granted $25,000 to help fund their respective initiatives.

Immersed in his creative pursuits, Trey Buongiorno ’13 has received recent critical acclaim for his work on Moon Girl Landing. At UCF, Buongiorno studied what is currently known as the character animation track in the bachelor’s degree program, which is offered in the College of Arts and Humanities through the School of Visual Arts and Design.

The UCF-based research program, which includes students and faculty from SVAD, was awarded top honors for the training game Limbitless Journey at 2023 I/ITSEC.

Featuring typographic artwork from a variety of artists and a 30-foot-long timeline plastered on the wall, the broadsides, or posters, tell the history of American print media and the stories that go along with it.

Curated by fantastic local printmaker Ashley Taylor and design historian Dr. Dori Griffin, “Type Out Loud” functions as both a historiography of the physical ephemera and an exploration of the printing process.

When generative AI tools became available this year, many identified them as a disruptive technology. Limbitless Solutions creative director Matt Dombrowski embraced them with open arms.

Recent graduate Sara Parsons ’23 has made an impact in and out of the classroom while overcoming health challenges in the process.
