Dr. Ann Gleig’s new book American Dharma: Buddhism Beyond Modernity explores the evolution of American Buddhism. By examining the cultural shifts through a modern and postmodern lens, Gleig argues that clear differences arise between “Traditional Buddhism” and “American Buddhism”. Cultural movements such as Black Lives Matter and #MeToo have also influenced the developments in American Buddhism.
