The College of Arts and Humanities extends a welcome to new and familiar faces during the transition of some critical administrative and staff roles.

Jamie Poissant teaches undergraduate and graduate classes while advising the Graduate Writers Association and PARCELS, the UCF MFA student reading series. The most rewarding part of his job as an educator is seeing students grow, whether watching a graduate student sign a book contract with a major publisher or watching a student learn to differentiate between types of narrators.

UCF awarded 22 faculty in the arts and humanities promotion and tenure. Consideration for promotion and tenure takes nearly an entire academic year as faculty are evaluated on three main areas: research, teaching and service.

Will Wight ’13MFA has sold more than one million copies of his online books, making a name for himself on the New York Times Best Seller list and topping the Kindle store charts.

Congratulations to CAH alumni Emily Judd ’16, Kristen Thomas ’16 and Amy Weschler ’15 who have been named to UCF Alumni’s 2022 “30 Under 30.”

The annual CAH staff awards recognize employees who have delivered exemplary service to the college and UCF. At the ceremony, college administration recognized staff members for their dedication to UCF and acknowledged the challenging year the employees faced.

Associate Dean Lynn Hepner ’95MA is retiring from UCF on August 7. Her ability to anticipate the needs of the college and to provide the right data at the right time has made her invaluable to CAH.

This year, the 11-day festival known as UCF Celebrates the Arts is back and bigger than ever before.

“We asked for a ‘little help from our friends’ this year, and our friends delivered,” says Jeff Moore, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities.

This year’s honorees are using research to help create a brighter future — including Chrissy Kolaya, assistant professor of English.
