Technical communication student Kennedy Harkins and English alumna Ivy McKay ’17 had their research articles published in issue 10.1 of The Pegasus Review: UCF Undergraduate Research Journal. The highly selective journal, which accepts just seven articles per issue, features essays that go through a thorough editing process, with the writers receiving assistance from professors acting as mentors.

The UCF History Department exhibit, Zora Neale Hurston’s ‘Native Village’: Historic Eatonville Remembered, hosted on the first-floor gallery wall in the John C. Hitt Library, explores Hurston’s anthropological research into the people, history and culture of Eatonville.

For student Andrea Romero, success can be found through the English Department’s technical communication track and the connections she’s found along the way.

The student film “Marching Forward” co-directed by faculty members Lisa Mills and Robert Cassanello won the Atman Award for Diversity in Film at the Southern States Indie Fan Film Festival in Biloxi, Mississippi. The film was screened at the festival and nominated for two awards. Student director Oswmer Louis was also invited to speak on a panel regarding diversity in film.

UCF’s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy and local partners are hosting a conference that aims to inspire the next generation of game designers.

The program will bring the number of degrees offered by the university to 225, which includes 30 doctorates.

In the Orlando Sentinel’s “Best of Central Florida Theater: 2018 Year in Review,” many UCF creatives were saluted by resident theater critic Matthew J. Palm for their outstanding work in the theater arts. Across the 25 categories, 27 UCF faculty, staff, students and alumni were recognized for their incredible talents. 

Moving to New York and accepting a position as a creative producer at such a young age doesn’t faze Halle Kilman. She’s ready for it, after completing the Theatre Studies program at UCF.
