Students, faculty, special guests and members of the public attended the inaugural Knights Write Showcase, which featured the best work from first-year students who received support through the new Department of Writing and Rhetoric at UCF. President John Hitt was on-hand to present the Hitt Prize for Excellence in First-Year Writing to the best article published this year in the department&#8217;s peer-reviewed journal <em>Stylus<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Fern\u00e1ndez, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, joined a panel titled, &#8220;The Professors Write Back,&#8221; featuring UCF faculty members discussing their lives as writers.<\/p>\n<p>The event has been featured in local news outlets.
