\"Stylus<\/a><\/p>\n

The UCF Writing and Rhetoric Department’s\u00a0First-Year Writing Program<\/a>\u00a0publishes\u00a0Stylus: A Journal of First-Year Writing<\/em>\u00a0to provide a forum for the exemplary writing and research produced by students enrolled in the university’s first-year composition courses. Bringing together work from across a program of some 6,000 students,\u00a0Stylus<\/em>\u00a0celebrates writing that demonstrates an inquiring mind, compelling prose, and original thought.<\/p>\n

The journal accepts work produced in any first-year composition class at UCF by students currently enrolled in the university or who were enrolled the previous semester. All submissions go through an intensive peer review and selection process.\u00a0Submission guidelines and procedure can be found here<\/a>. Additionally, any student published in Stylus becomes eligible for the\u00a0John C. Hitt Prize for Excellence in First-Year Writing<\/a>, an award given out yearly to one student whose work appeared in the journal.<\/p>\n

Stylus\u00a0<\/em>is currently accepting submissions for our Issue 16.1. The deadline to submit is August 22, 2025. <\/strong><\/p>\n
