Laurie A. Pinkert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric and Director of Writing Across the Curriculum in the Center for Writing Excellence at the University of Central Florida. She also currently coordinates an interdisciplinary fellowship-writing initiative that is supported by the College of Graduate Studies. She is interested in investigating disciplinarity, identity, and expertise within the field of Rhetoric\/Composition\/Writing Studies and examining the ways that writing impacts and evidences disciplinary enculturation for writers across disciplines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Anyssa Gonzalez is a first-year PhD student in the Text and Technology program. Originally from South Florida, Anyssa taught middle and high school for six years while earning her Master’s in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media from Nova Southeastern University. Her primary area of interest is games in educational spaces, particularly Dungeons & Dragons. She has three cats who keep her company while she writes and spends her non-academic time playing videogames.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Megan Joy Eddington<\/h3>\n

Originally from Layton, Utah, Megan Joy Eddington is an English Rhetoric and Composition Master\u2019s student at the University of Central Florida. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science (pre-med) and a minor in editing. Her primary research interests are in medical writing and editing and in writing center studies. In her free time, she enjoys researching her family history, playing board games with her family, and learning international dance forms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Priscila Schilaro Santa Rosa<\/h3>\n

Priscila Schilaro Santa Rosa is a Brazilian international student. She was born in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil. After working as an art director for eight years, she decided to change careers. In 2017, she came to the United States to study writing. She has a B.A. in English from the University of Central Florida, and she\u2019s currently pursuing her master\u2019s in Rhetoric and Composition. She loves cats, K-dramas, old-school RPGs, and baking bread.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Partners<\/h3>\n

The Writing Across the Curriculum Program is housed in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric and Writing Outreach Programs. In addition, we work in close partnerships with the following programs and units.<\/p>\n

The First-Year Writing Program:<\/strong> The Writing about Writing curriculum taught by UCF\u2019s First-Year Writing Program prepares students for writing in the disciplines by giving them transferrable knowledge about writing and practice in academic writing. While the first-year writing program cannot prepare students for writing in every academic situation, it provides a strong foundation for the students\u2019 success in writing in the disciplines.<\/p>\n

The University Writing Center:<\/strong> We partner with the University Writing Center on embedded and liaison tutor projects as well as other initiatives. While UWC directly addresses student writers\u2019 needs through in-Center consultations, the Writing Across the Curriculum Program works directly with faculty to improve writing instruction in the disciplines.<\/p>\n

The College of Arts and Humanities:<\/strong> The Dean and staff of the College of Arts and Humanities provide ongoing support necessary for the success of the Writing Across the Curriculum Program.<\/p>\n

Karen L. Smith Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning:<\/strong> FCTL\u2019s Director Melody Bowdon and the Center\u2019s staff partner with us on various Writing Across the Curriculum-related projects and have provided space for Writing Across the Curriculum workshops and other events in the past.<\/p>\n
