I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Anastasia Salter as Director, Graduate Programs, in the College of Arts & Humanities. Dr. Salter will begin her new role May 8, 2019. Under the supervision of Associate Dean Lynn Hepner, Dr. Salter will be responsible for the oversight of all the college\u2019s graduate programs, including the Texts & Technology doctoral program, with the specific goal to identify strategic areas of program investment to strengthen graduate program growth and quality across the college in support of the university\u2019s path to preeminence. <\/p>\n
I also wish to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Barry Mauer for his two years of leadership as the director of our doctoral program. Under his stewardship, the program has increased its visibility across campus and is closer to its objective of becoming a program of distinction, one of my goals as dean. <\/p>\n
I hope you will join me in congratulating Dr. Salter on her new role and thanking Dr. Mauer for his solid leadership of and dedication to our Texts & Technology doctoral program. <\/p>\n

As I prepare to transfer from my role as T&T director in the coming months, I want to thank the faculty sincerely for their assistance to me and for their contributions to the program. Due to their dedication, T&T has seen increases in enrollment, graduations, and student research productivity. In the past two years, we made many changes aimed at improving the program, such as new core curriculum objectives, new technology objectives, new professionalization practices, and a new area of specialization in Editing, Publishing, and Interdisciplinary Curating. We have seen greater recognition of T&T and made valuable connections across UCF, in our communities, throughout area colleges, across the state, the nation, and the world. We have seen new faculty join T&T and they are showing leadership in shaping the direction of the program. It has been an honor to be a part of all this tremendous growth and improvement in the program and to enjoy the camaraderie of such great colleagues along the way. <\/p>\n
I would like to congratulate Dr. Anastasia Salter as she assumes her new position as director of T&T and of graduate programs in CAH. Dr. Salter has been my colleague and collaborator for the past several years and I can attest to her vast expertise and impressive leadership skills. The program is in good hands. Also, I would like to offer my gratitude to Ms. Patty Hurter and Dr. Mel Stanfill. Patty Hurter is retiring this spring and she has been the heart of the program for years. Without her assistance and dedication to the program, directing T&T would have been impossible for me. Dr. Stanfill is assuming portions of Patty\u2019s duties and is doing great work. Once the new coordinator hire is finalized, the college will have a solid team in place. It has been a great pleasure working in my role as director and I look forward to working with T&T faculty as a fellow T&T core faculty member.<\/p>\n
