Formed in 1987, the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community (P.E.C.) works to promote Eatonville’s cultural and historical heritage. Since 1990, P.E.C. has hosted the annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities in historic Eatonville.

The UCF History Department partners with the the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community on several major Public History initiatives.

Every Tongue Got To Confess: A Podcast Exploring Communities of Color

Beginning in 2017, Dr.  Robert Cassanello (UCF History) and Dr. Julian Chambliss (then at Rollins College) launched a podcast series based on interviews with presenters at the annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of Arts & Humanities Academic Conference. The title, “Every Tongue Got to Confess,” is based on Hurston’s collection of African American folklore by the same title.
