Alpha Psi Omega is a National Theatre Honor Society for participants in collegiate theatre. Founded on the principles of leadership, friendship and service, it began in the early 20th century with the aim of encouraging dramatic production at every step in a person\u2019s academic career. Alpha Psi Omega has enjoyed continuous national growth and with over 600 casts, is the largest national honor society in America. Membership is open to all students who are active in theatre at UCF.<\/p>\n
National Association for Music Education, among the world\u2019s largest arts education organizations, marked its centennial in 2007 as the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. Through membership of more than 75,000 active, retired, and preservice music teachers, and with 60,000 honor students and supporters, NAfME serves millions of students nationwide through activities at all teaching levels, from preschool to graduate school.<\/p>\n
Since 1907, NAfME has worked to ensure that every student has access to a well-balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality program of music instruction taught by qualified teachers. NAfME’s activities and resources have been largely responsible for the establishment of music education as a profession, for the promotion and guidance of music study as an integral part of the school curriculum, and for the development of the National Standards for Arts Education.<\/p>\n

It was organized for the purpose of promoting the musical and educational significance of bands and is dedicated to the attainment of a high level of excellence for bands and band music. Membership in the UCF Collegiate Chapter is open to all students who are interested in a career in instrumental music education. The UCF NBA Chapter hosts meetings and clinics throughout the year designed to promote the world of band music and to provide additional educational opportunities for instrumental music education majors. Sinfonia was born on October 6, 1898, at the New England Conservatory in Boston, when a group of thirteen young men under the guidance of Ossian Everett Mills “to consider the social life of the young men students of that institution [and] to devise ways and means by which it might be improved.” For over a century, Sinfonians in nearly every field of study and professional endeavor have transformed music in America.
