The new name for UCF’s long-time partner in Theatre for Young Audiences better reflects the organization’s mission: serving children and families.<\/em><\/p>\n

UCF’s longtime partner, formerly known as the “Orlando Repertory Theatre” or just “The REP,” has changed its name to Orlando Family Stage. About the decision, Board Chair Adam Scheinberg says “We seized on the opportunity to have a correct and clear name, a refreshed brand, and a name that ties us to the arts and brings attention to our niche programming, serving family audiences. Our new name is not only the logical evolution of who we have become, but points to who we continue to be and aim to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The theatre is a natural partner for the UCF School of Performing Arts’ Theatre for Young Audiences graduate program, and the two institutions have built a mutually beneficial relationship for students to gain experience in the field. Additionally, many of the theatre’s actors, technicians and administrators — including the theatre’s executive director Chris Brown — are UCF alumni.<\/p>\n

“The partnership with UCF\u2019s MFA program in Theatre for Young Audiences is one of just a handful in the country where students gain hands-on experience in the field, and receive training from experienced professionals. This relationship with UCF is essential to its success, creating a strong foundation, strengthening the roots of the organization\u2019s work,” says Broadway World.<\/a><\/p>\n
