These amazing artists contributed to <em>Aquifer: The Florida Review Online<\/em>, and links to their work are attached below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fiction:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/whats-left-behind\/\"><strong>Elizabeth Chapman, What&#8217;s Left Behind<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Elizabeth Chapman is a Florida native. She currently lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she teaches tiny humans to play the piano. This is her first published short story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/please-pass-the-flotsam\/\"><strong>Matt Cashion, Please Pass the Flotsam<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Matt Cashion\u2019s fourth book, HOW WE DO THINGS HERE (a finalist in the Flannery O\u2019Connor Award for short fiction) is forthcoming this February (Cornerstone Press). His story collection, LAST WORDS OF THE HOLY GHOST won the 2015 Katherine Anne Porter Prize, and his novel, OUR 13th DIVORCE, won the Edna Ferber Prize. Other work appears in\u00a0<em>The Sun,\u00a0Cincinnati Review,\u00a0Willow Springs,\u00a0Carolina Quarterly,\u00a0The Writer\u2019s Chronicle<\/em>, and elsewhere. Born in the North Carolina mountains and raised in Coastal Georgia, he earned an MFA from the University of Oregon and now teaches Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poetry:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/notes-from-four-tenths-of-a-daughter\/\"><strong>Holly Zhou, Notes from Four-Tenths of a Daughter<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Holly Zhou is a poet and mixed-media artist from the California desert, the unceded territory of the Cahuilla and Mojave peoples. Holly\u2019s poetry has appeared in\u00a0<em>The Kenyon Review<\/em>\u00a0and elsewhere. When not writing, they can be found exploring rocks by the ocean or in the mountains.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/i-used-to-be-much-faster\/\"><strong>Maurice Carlos Ruffin, I Used to be Much Faster<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Maurice Carlos Ruffin is the author of National Bestseller,<em>\u00a0The American Daughters<\/em>, as well as\u00a0<em>The Ones Who Don\u2019t Say They Love You<\/em>, a One Book One New Orleans selection,\u00a0which was longlisted for the Story Prize. His debut,\u00a0<em>We Cast a Shadow<\/em>, was a finalist for the PEN\/Faulkner Award, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the PEN America Open Book Prize.\u00a0All three books were\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>\u00a0Editors\u2019 Choice selections.\u00a0Ruffin is the winner of the\u00a0<em>Iowa Review<\/em>\u00a0Award in fiction and the Louisiana Writer Award. Ruffin is an associate professor of Creative Writing at Louisiana State University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/a-garden-at-night\/\"><strong>Kelle Groom, A Garden at Night<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Kelle Groom\u2019s fifth poetry collection,\u00a0<em>The Book of Miracles<\/em>, will be published in the Pitt Poetry Series, University of Pittsburgh Press, Spring 2027. She is the author of four previous collections,<em>\u00a0Underwater City<\/em>\u00a0(University Press of Florida),\u00a0<em>Luckily,\u00a0Five Kingdoms,\u00a0and Spill<\/em>\u00a0(Anhinga Press); a memoir,\u00a0<em>I Wore the Ocean in the Shape of a Girl\u00a0<\/em>(Simon &amp; Schuster), a Barnes &amp; Noble Discover selection and New York Times Editors&#8217; Choice; and\u00a0<em>How to Live: A Memoir in Essays<\/em>\u00a0(Tupelo Press). An NEA Fellow, Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellow, and winner of two Florida Book Awards in poetry, Groom\u2019s work appears in\u00a0<em>AGNI,\u00a0American Poetry Review,\u00a0Best American Poetry,\u00a0The New Yorker,\u00a0New York Times,\u00a0Ploughshares, <\/em>and <em>Poetry.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/scientists-confirm-the-biological-basis-of-love\/\"><strong>Jill McCabe Johnson, Scientists Confirm the Biological Basis of Love<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Jill McCabe Johnson is the author of two chapbooks and three full-length poetry collections, most recently\u00a0<em>Tangled in Vow &amp; Beseech<\/em>\u00a0(MoonPath, 2024), a finalist for the Wheelbarrow Poetry Prize and Sally Albiso Poetry Award, plus the memoir\u00a0<em>Learning to Spar<\/em>, forthcoming from Unsolicited Press. Honors include Nautilus Awards in Poetry and Nature Writing, Longreads&#8217; Best of 2021 Stories, eight Pushcart Prize nominations, and support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Artist Trust, and Hedgebrook. Recent works have been published in\u00a0<em>Fourth Genre, Terrain.org, Booth,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>VerseDaily<\/em>. Their work has most recently appeared \/ is forthcoming in\u00a0<em>Allium,\u00a0The McNeese Review,\u00a0Blood Orange Review,\u00a0Gulf Stream,\u00a0Diode Poetry Journal,<\/em> and elsewhere. They enjoy clich\u00e9s and long walks on the beach in Tallahassee (for now).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/floridareview\/article\/two-poems-19\/\"><strong>Emily Schulten, Ode to Missing Something You Never Had<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">Emily Schulten is the author of three poetry collections, most recently\u00a0<em>Easy Victims to the Charitable Deceptions of Nostalgia<\/em>, winner of the 2023 White Pine Press Poetry Prize. Her work appears in\u00a0<em>Best American Poetry,\u00a0Ploughshares,\u00a0The Kenyon Review,\u00a0Tin House,<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Five Points<\/em>, among others.
