Cherishing intimacy while refusing to look away from humanity&#8217;s capacity for violence, this book engages the genocidal weight of history alongside the thermonuclear missile crisis proliferating globally in the present day. The visual art of James Black and the poems of Shann Ray offer a sense of fearlessness accompanied by peace and well-being against the imminent threat of annihilation. To hold the beloved\u2019s face, to speak love not hate, to see blackbirds rise from a winter field and hear the quiet breathing of horses&#8211;to give witness to the beauty of wilderness and the ShM<\/p>\n<p>an early Soviet<\/p>\n<p>air-to-air missile<\/p>\n<p>with a speed of 800<\/p>\n<p>meters per second<\/p>\n<p>and beam riding<\/p>\n<p>guidance that in later<\/p>\n<p>years was replaced by<\/p>\n<p>a beam-riding seeker<\/p>\n<p>with infrared semi-active<\/p>\n<p>radar homing for<\/p>\n<p>missiles now given<\/p>\n<p>the name heat seekers<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 ^<\/p>\n<p>notice too<\/p>\n<p>the AIM-9 Sidewinder<\/p>\n<p>(where &#8220;AIM&#8221; stands for<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Air Intercept Missile&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>a short-range air-to-air missile<\/p>\n<p>which entered service with the United States<\/p>\n<p>Navy in 1956 and was subsequently adopted<\/p>\n<p>by the US Air Force in 1964<\/p>\n<p>and since then the Sidewinder<\/p>\n<p>has proved to be an enduring<\/p>\n<p>international success so its latest<\/p>\n<p>variants remain standard<\/p>\n<p>equipment in most Western-aligned<\/p>\n<p>air forces but don\u2019t forget the Soviet<\/p>\n<p>K-13 (AA-2 &#8216;Atoll&#8217;) a reverse-<\/p>\n<p>Engineered copy of the AIM-9B<\/p>\n<p>which was also widely adopted<\/p>\n<p>by a number of nations such that<\/p>\n<p>these newer seekers with rocket<\/p>\n<p>motors can also equip attack helicopters<\/p>\n<p>for greater kill force please recognize<\/p>\n<p>these as among the oldest lowest cost<\/p>\n<p>missiles also don\u2019t forget the US Navy<\/p>\n<p>hosted a 50th-anniversary celebration<\/p>\n<p>for the Sidewinder in 2002 and Boeing<\/p>\n<p>won a contract in 2010 to support<\/p>\n<p>Sidewinder operations through 2055<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 ^<\/p>\n<p>today missiles<\/p>\n<p>with names from A to Z<\/p>\n<p>carry thermonuclear warheads<\/p>\n<p>flying the earth wherever we ask<\/p>\n<p>them to\u00a0fly leaving and reentering the atmosphere<\/p>\n<p>with pinpoint accuracy exoatmospheric kill vehicles<\/p>\n<p>yes EKVs ride fast<\/p>\n<p>so please remember<\/p>\n<p>the ancient prophecy:<\/p>\n<p>when you see standing<\/p>\n<p>in the holy place<\/p>\n<p>the abomination that<\/p>\n<p>causes desolation flee<\/p>\n<p>to the mountains let no<\/p>\n<p>one on the rooftop go<\/p>\n<p>down to take anything<\/p>\n<p>from the house let no<\/p>\n<p>one go back to the field<\/p>\n<p>to get their cloak it will<\/p>\n<p>be dreadful for pregnant<\/p>\n<p>women and nursing<\/p>\n<p>mothers pray that your<\/p>\n<p>flight will not take place<\/p>\n<p>in winter or on the day<\/p>\n<p>of rest there will be great<\/p>\n<p>distress unequaled from<\/p>\n<p>the beginning of the world<\/p>\n<p>and never to be equaled<\/p>\n<p>again please note it says<\/p>\n<p>if those days are not cut<\/p>\n<p>short no one will survive<\/p>\n<p>and wherever there is a<\/p>\n<p>carcass there the vultures<\/p>\n<p>will gather but\u00a0be not afraid<\/p>\n<p>for as lightning that comes<\/p>\n<p>from the east is visible in<\/p>\n<p>the west so will be was widely<\/p>\n<p>used by the Iraqi Army<\/p>\n<p>during the Iran\u2013Iraq<\/p>\n<p>War and the Persian<\/p>\n<p>Gulf War weight nearly<\/p>\n<p>15,000 pounds warhead<\/p>\n<p>1,102 pounds of payload<\/p>\n<p>high explosive chemical<\/p>\n<p>biological and nuclear<\/p>\n<p>capabilities but also note<\/p>\n<p>fuselage and warhead prone<\/p>\n<p>to break into fragments is the<\/p>\n<p>UK&#8217;s Skyflash the Asp<\/p>\n<p>uses the same airframe<\/p>\n<p>as the Sparrow but an<\/p>\n<p>inverse monopulse<\/p>\n<p>seeker far more accurate<\/p>\n<p>and much less multiple<\/p>\n<p>firings reliant on kinetic<\/p>\n<p>energy through shaped<\/p>\n<p>charge explosives using<\/p>\n<p>the Munroe effect to<\/p>\n<p>penetrate heavy armor<\/p>\n<p>the charge collapses a<\/p>\n<p>metal liner inside the<\/p>\n<p>warhead into a high-<\/p>\n<p>velocity shaped charge jet<\/p>\n<p>capable of penetrating<\/p>\n<p>armor steel to a depth of<\/p>\n<p>seven or more times
