We all stare down<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>the church. Revisit and retrace an object<\/p>\n<p>as if it can save the millennium, as if it can save me.<\/p>\n<p>I am drawing to you, Love, in straight black lines<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>as a spectator\u2019s wrinkles deepen. Who is on the watch<\/p>\n<p>for angels and Satan as millennials take self-portraits<\/p>\n<p>filtered to Beautiful for hours in front of the church?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As if to follow as if to Like as if to Share as if to Friend<\/p>\n<p>as if to Capture as if to Block as if to Leak. Is this social<\/p>\n<p>media faith\u2019s purgatory? <em>Please believe in my selves.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Inside my real body, frescoes. Frescoes and sketches of<\/p>\n<p>now dead little i\u2019s and little u\u2019s then purportedly loving.<\/p>\n<p>Love\u2122 \u2013 a fa\u00e7ade as flat as the green and white lines<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>mapping the face of the Santa Maria Novella.<\/p>\n<p>All one hundred people in this square freeze<\/p>\n<p>to view order for seconds and minutes and hours<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>and the lovers kiss and hold it as if Love\u2019s relics<\/p>\n<p>as I wonder who will be discarded upon homecoming as<\/p>\n<p>if trash blown up dew-slicked streets of East Walnut Hills.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>u and i kissed and held it for years<\/p>\n<p>in America to peel off the monochromatic<\/p>\n<p>color scheme on Satan\u2019s dividing palette yet<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>my image you displayed for no one. Unaffirmed,<\/p>\n<p>unshared, you ghosted me. Our love\u2014my grave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Behind the basilica, the sinking sun births shadow-<\/p>\n<p>twins, keeps loneliness company. Couples go silently<\/p>\n<p>away.
