CDS creates this sense of community through publication of The Cypress Dome literary magazine; and presenting two reading series: Writers in the Sun, which brings nationally acclaimed authors to UCF, and the Student-Faculty Reading Series, which provides a place for students and faculty to share their work.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"std\">Sigma Tau Delta<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.english.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Sigma Tau Delta<\/a>, the National English Honor Society, has established chapters on campuses of over three hundred colleges and universities throughout the United States and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. The Zeta Xi Chapter was formed in 1980 at the University of Central Florida. The purpose of Sigma Tau Delta is to encourage the writing, appreciation, and criticism of literature and to convey distinction upon students, faculty members, and professional writers who have achieved recognition in the literature of the English language.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"ftc\">Future Technical Communicators<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/futuretechnicalcommunicators.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Future Technical Communicators (FTC) club at <acronym title=\"University of Central Florida\">UCF<\/acronym><\/a>\u00a0provides helpful information about technical writing and upcoming workshops.\u00a0<acronym title=\"Future Technical Communicators\">FTC<\/acronym>\u00a0members are given the opportunity to attend both\u00a0<acronym title=\"Future Technical Communicators\">FTC<\/acronym>\u00a0and STC meetings as well as become involved in the new mentoring program. Saturday workshops are held by current technical writing students and\u00a0<acronym title=\"Future Technical Communicators\">FTC<\/acronym>\u00a0members who help attendees become more familiar with the industries essential computer applications and technical writing procedures. Finally, the Web site provides information about the Melissa Pellegrin Memorial Scholarship Fund as well as information about the local and national STC organization.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/english\/faculty-staff\/profile\/172\">J.D. Applen<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/cah.ucf.edu\/english\/faculty-staff\/profile\/594\">Carolyn Glasshoff<\/a> serve as faculty co-advisors to\u00a0<acronym title=\"Future Technical Communicators\">FTC<\/acronym>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"uknighted\">Writers Uknighted<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ucf.campuslabs.com\/engage\/organization\/writersuknighted\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Writers Uknighted<\/a> is a network of creative student writers that strive to enhance their writing skills in a productive and positive atmosphere. This club provides a space for student writers to come together and hone in on their creative skills. Whether you write creative fiction\/non-fiction, poetry, scripts, plays, etc. this club is for you!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 id=\"uknighted\">Young Poets&#8217; Society<\/h3>\n<p> Established 2022, the <a href=\"https:\/\/knightconnect.campuslabs.com\/engage\/organization\/youngpoetsociety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Young Poets&#8217; Society<\/a> (YPS) was created to foster the skills of poets, be it new or old. The club holds monthly meetings where members are encouraged to write and share poems in an inclusive and supportive environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Graduate Writer&#8217;s Association<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucf.campuslabs.com\/engage\/organization\/graduatewritersassociation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Graduate Writers&#8217; Association<\/a>\u00a0(GWA) helps students successfully transition from the university into the greater literary field by creating and participating in networking and professional development opportunities and sharing knowledge of existing literary organizations.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>PARCELS: MFAs in Progress Reading Series<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ucf_crw_mfa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener\">Parcels: MFAs in Progress<\/a>\u00a0is a monthly reading series organized by current UCF graduate students pursuing MFA degrees in Creative Writing. The series aims to share the talents of the current UCF MFA students with the Orlando community.<\/p>\n<p><em>Parcels<\/em>\u00a0is hosted on the second Sunday of various urban locations. Readings begin at 7 p.m. and run for about two hours with breaks for drinks, socializing, and games.
